12 INTENTIONS for 2020

12 INTENTIONS for 2020

It’s 2020, you guys, and I thought it would be cool to share my business goals for the year. First things first, I have a question, is this all over the world, or are Cubans the only ones who do this? Every New Year’s Eve, before the tears and champagne, a glass with 12 grapes is passed out to eat right when the countdown hits zero. One for each month, of course, which you are supposed to set an intention to.

I know they say, if you tell someone your wishes they won’t come true, but these aren’t wishes, they are promises. Promises I intend to keep, and who better to hold me accountable than you? I intend to experience greater levels of: magic, fun, creativity, connectedness, trust, peace, prosperity, abundance, health, healing, rest, guidance, freedom, beauty, acceptance, wisdom, and love. I want all the good vibes I can get!

#1 I WILL CONTINUE TO SHIFT MY M I N D S E T
2019 was a crazy, wild, but successful ride. When I shifted my mindset, I opened my eyes to opportunities that both culturally and environmentally, I thought were impossible. As a result, I won’t seek approval or permission to do the things I desire. I will not worry about other’s perceptions of me. It’s all about, “those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind, ” state of mind this year! PERIOD.

#2 I WILL RELEASE C O N T R O L
Those who know me, know I’m a control freak, a perfectionist, but that shit has held me back long enough! I refused to admit that I needed an assistant. The thought of someone else having control of my team, my business, or my work was too much to handle. This year I will learn how to delegate and communicate with my team to scale my business.

#3 I WILL LEARN SOMETHING N E W
Last year was full of growth, but that doesn’t mean I’ve learned everything. I will continue to further my education and learn new things. I plan on taking at least one lash training this year. More importantly, I will learn a new craft that has nothing to do with lashes.

#4 I WILL NOT OVER C O M P L I C A T E THINGS
I know this is my biggest flaw. I have a special way to order at Taco Bell for goodness sake. Who does that? I can be so EXTRA without even trying, and I’m done with the back and forth trying to perfect things I cannot control. I will keep things simple, but impactful this year.

#5 CHARGE WHAT I AM W O R T H
I’m past my starving artist phase, and four years in the industry will do a lot to you. Not only do I have a Business Administration Degree, which I didn’t get to charge “competitive pricing,” although that is why I have multiple certifications. I’ve also traveled and will continue to do so all over the country. I put a lot of value into my services, and I want to attract clients who value me for my artistry and creativity.

#6 L A U N C H MY PROJECTS
I ate shit all of 2019, especially with my passion projects. I’ve worked on some cool shit this past year, and this will be the year I get to launch at least two projects! I legit have four half-assed projects, and what held me back the most was wanting them to launch perfectly, which is super unrealistic and pretty unreasonable. When have you ever seen a perfect prototype? Exactly.

#7 C O L L A B O R A T E WITH PEOPLE
I wish this would happen more often in the lash industry. Take a look at the makeup industry, so many brands are constantly collaborating. Collaboration over the competition is where it’s at!

#8 T R A V E L MORE
February makes a year of traveling back and forth between Miami and Dallas to service clients while also slowly transitioning for my big move in July. I have a new love for traveling, and I have so much fun going back and forth and meeting clients who are so different in each city. Random thought, but I would love to do beauty pop up’s in random cities. This year I want to push myself to get out there and do at least one thing that makes me uncomfortable this year.

#9 ENROLL IN MORE C O M P E T I T I O N S
Man, this one is tough. In in 2018, I enrolled in a competition, and it was so discouraging when I didn’t win, can you tell how much of a sore loser I am? I loved it though having creative freedom and being able to compete in a friendly environment amongst some of the best of the best.

#10 WORK L E SS PLAY M O R E
Last year was a crazy ride, y’all. At the end of it, I had racked up almost two whole books, which is mind-blowing. I booked forty-six clients, sitting and lasing for ten plus hours is too much if you ask me, and it needs to end. I need to scale back and focus on other things I’m working on. I want to work less and play more. You know what I’m saying?

#12 C E L E B R A T E MORE OF E V E R Y T H I N G
I celebrate a lot, mostly other’s wins, and I tend to forget to celebrate my own. This year will be filled with celebration, and it won’t need to be anything crazy, but something that makes me happy.

Here are some tips for setting your intentions:

1. Make your intentions adjustable and attainable because a lot can change with time, so your goals should be flexible!

2. Try to focus on the present time, people tend to worry too much about tomorrow, and that takes them out of enjoying the moment. As a result, they’re not living their authentic life.
